The Lee Reynolds “Heartbeat” Benefit Glass Auction was conceived in support of an outgrowth of needs which Lee Reynolds now has as a recipient of a donor heart. Over the years, Lee's parents (Gil and Carmen Reynolds) who work in the professional art glass industry have developed relationships with glass artist collegues and friends from around the world. These artists have gathered here to support the Reynolds family during their time of crisis.

In April 2008, the aforementioned group of professional glass artists met at the Las Vegas Glass Craft Expo and quickly conceived the idea for this benefit auction. Due to the geographical distance between artists, an online auction event was chosen as the medium to show their support.

These talented artists will express their creativity in various glass art forms to show their collective "Heartbeat" for Lee Reynolds. This heartbeat refers to the life that was saved through the transfer of a vital organ and also Lee, Gil, and the family’s love of music; rhythm is often referred to as the heartbeat of the soul.

Art glass items donated from these well known glass artists will be auctioned online to the public from October 3 - 19, 2008 on eBay Giving Works. Ninety percent (90%) of the proceeds generated by the auctioned items will go directly to the Reynolds' family and ten percent (10%) donated in appreciation to the American Heart Association.
